Dear journal,
I suppose my first day at Voodoo Mama's could have gone. I'm already on probation, for punching somebody in the nose...
I sauntered in to the bar, swinging my arms. I flip over the counter, hillbilly style, and change into my stage outfit. I reached for my notebook, surprised that I was the first inside. I opened my notebook, flicking through my pages of sketchs. I didn't really think that I'd be taking orders as much a drawing the people. I liked to go home later and try to figure out their past life.
Now, most people are here, and even a few customers. I stalk around the side of the bar, ignoring the wolf whistles, though they make my face go red.
I've gto three orders before I start to forget the details, so I walk back to the bar to get them. I set my sketch pad down on the counter, and clamber onto a stool. I'm that tiny and my heels barely brush the ground.
The bartender looks up from the drink he's currently mixing, and flashes me a grin then ducks back down again, this tiime coming up with a glass. He presses the glass into my hand, and I eye it suspicously. Dean laughs at my expression, then winks. "Try it." he orders. "`Kay..." I gingerly take a sip, then spit it out. Dean and his buddy... forgot his name again, crack up. "Yuck!" I yelpl, wiping my mouth on the back of my hand. "What is in that, Dean!?" He smirks "vineager." I through them a withering, wiping my mouth again, then show them what I need.
"Hey, girlie!" A man calls. I look up and note that I already took his order. "Whats taking so lon'?" I sigh. "Why I oughta..." I hear hear Dean mutter, and I see his hand almost go fofr his gun. "Sean..." I murmur, reminding him of the last time he lost his temper, then touch the puckered red scar above his eyes. "I've got it." I hop up again, sorry to leave the company of the two people I actually felt alright with in this crazy place.
This man's size reminds me of our door gaurd, Stuart. " Here you go, sir. " I set his drink down politely. He chuckles, and I smell alchohol on his breath. "Good girl." I turn to leave, but the man grabs my waist, and pulls me down beside him. "Let go of me!" I shriek.
In half of a second, Stu and Dean are are beside me, Dean yanking me by the wrist away from the man, while Stu breaks his hold on me, and I thhink I hear a bone crunch. I hit hit him in the nose and /definetly/ hear something.
The next thing, I'm sitting on the counter, while Dean is telling 'I told you so' to me, and Stu is ushering the man out. "Are you alright?" asks another voice.
I look up to see what I think is Mama's daughter, and the head girl. Stu steps back. "Jewel." "Stu." She smiles, but turns her attention to me agian. "For your first day, that was probably pretty traumatic." "Yeah, I'm bruised, but alive." She laughs.
"ISOBEL!" Mama yells. "Did I hear you were driviing away bisineuss?" "Mama!" Jewel says "It's her first and..." She leans down and presses her lips to mama's ear and whispers. Mama turns white then red.
"Where is that man?" She asks Stu.
"I'm not sure. I took him out."
"Well." And she's speaking to all of us now. "That man is never to come in this building again."
"Thank you. Mama." I murmur."
"NOW, back to work!" Mama yells, and I begin taking orders, with Dean shadowing my every step, with one hand on his gun
